First, let’s start with the obvious. The Revenant 160 is a beautiful mod. That is something we’ll all probably be able to agree on.
It’s made out of resin material so it isn’t just one specific color. In fact, you don’t get the option to choose the color when you checkout. That is one downside with purchasing this mod. It’s beautiful, but yours might not be as good looking as your buddies depending on your personal preference.
If you wanted one with green being the dominant color, but you got one where purple was dominant, then you’re just SOL buddy. Regardless, It’s still a great looking mod no doubt. It’s a much-welcomed change of pace from the standard colors.
Quick and Dirty
The Revenant 160 is a beast that’s chock full of useful features. You can vape on it from 5-160 watts and the temperature ranges from 200-600°F. It’s compatible with nickel, titanium, and stainless steel coils. It has temperature control and variable wattage modes. It takes two 18650 batteries that can also be charged through the micro USB port. It has several new innovative features that are very useful for the advanced vaper. The firmware is upgradable, allowing you to keep your chip up to date with all the latest features. This mod features a cutting edge chipset, so keeping it up to date will have you on the forefront of vaping technology. The chipset is what really sets this mod apart from the thousands of other mods out there. It’s what makes this mod a beast. It retails for $149.99.
Innovative OMNI Chip
The Revenant 160 is one of the first mods to use the new OMNI chip. There’s only one way to describe this chip, badass.
The OMNI board has more features than any other chipset on the market. Let’s dive into the features that are exclusive to the OMNI board right now. I’m sure every chip maker in the world will try to copy it, but right now the OMNI chip is the only one.
It’s time to redefine this acronym. Growing up, CCW always stood for Concealed Carry Weapon and my right to protect myself. Now I have to add on another definition, one that is pretty freaking cool. The new CCW stands for customized curve of wattage. When I first heard of this, I thought it meant that you could bend the wattage. I thought that I could make the wattage curve as in taper off and on. I was thinking, it pisses me off when my first few hits aren’t as hot as I like it, why would I want every hit to get hot slowly. But my head was in the clouds. That’s not what it means at all.
The CCW feature allows you to set the wattage of your device in 0.5 second intervals for a five-second drag. So if you wanted your mod to hit at 120 watts for the first 1.5 seconds, then drop down to 100 watts for 1 second, then up to 130 watts for 0.5 seconds, then 140 watts for 1.5 seconds, then back down to 100 for 0.5 seconds, you could do just that. Any combination you can think of with 0.5 second intervals could be achieved with the Revenant 160. It vapes from 5-160 watts so that is the range you can play with.
Now that you’re familiar with CCW mode, you could probably guess what CCT stands for. Bingo! CCT stands for customized curve of temperature. It functions similarly to CCW mode, except you’ll be setting the temperature this time, not the wattage. You’ll be able to set the temperature in intervals of 0.5 seconds as well.
Why Do I Need CCW & CCT Mode?
Well, you don’t need these modes but they can be a lot of fun. If you love the flavor aspect of vaping, these modes will help you get the most out of your juice. Even if you don’t buy this mod, you should get a mod with an OMNI chip eventually so you can test it out for yourself.
At different wattages & temperatures, you taste different flavors from the same juice. The crew over at Cartel Mods believes that at a higher wattage it brings out the sweeter flavors and a lower wattage brings out the tart flavors. That has been my experience as well.
So the cool thing you’ll be able to do with this mod is taste the full body of your premium vape juice in one hit. You’ve probably never been able to do that unless your mod was derping. If you’re a flavor chaser, this mod would pair nicely with your favorite flavor chasing RDA. If you’re not into flavors all that much, you will still enjoy this feature but it’s not a must-have. Controlling the temperature second-by-second can allow you to customize your vaping experience to best suit your throat.
Overall, I love this feature.
Bypass mode is short for bypass-the-bullshit mode. If you’re not a huge fan of all the buttons, settings, and controls, theirs a setting for that! Bypass-the-bullshit mode essential turns your mod into a mech mod. Of course, it’s not really a mech mod because you still have a chipset and an OLED screen that is sucking up some juice, but it’s as good as it gets with a regulated device.
So if you’re not a big fan of all the bells and whistles but would like to use them sometimes, this mod would be a great fit for you. Also, if you just enjoy vaping on mech mods, then you’ll have fun with bypass mode. This would be a good segway into unregulated vaping if you have never tried it but are curious about it.
This is a feature for you rookies! Just kidding. This is a cool little feature that will recommend a wattage when you screw on a new build. It reads the resistance of your new coil and sets the device to a safe, recommended wattage. This will prevent you from frying your coil.
If you don’t want to vape on their recommended wattage, you can still change it. When you change it once, it automatically saves the setting. That way, when you turn off your mod you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off. It’s cool to try vaping at the recommended wattage and tweak it from there. The way I see it, there’s no harm in having a personal assistant that gives me recommendations. Sometimes I take them, other times I don’t. Such is life.
Just like other regulated mods, the Revenant has the safety feature that cover your ass when you forget to.
- Anti-loaded battery protection
- Low voltage protection
- Timeout protection
- Short circuit protection
- Load protection
- Low resistance protection
- Over current protection
- Overheating protection
Anyone considering buying this mod is not a beginner so I don’t need to explain these.
The Cartel Revenant 160 is a premium mod that has some really cool and innovative features. But is it worth the $149.99 price tag is the question. If you’re into premium mods, then this would be a nice one to add to your rotation. Its build quality is superb and it looks stunning. But if you don’t care about the quality and just want the OMNI chip, the Vaporesso Tarot Pro 160w has the same chip and is less than half the price.
So it really comes down to your personal style. What you’re really paying for here is the premium build quality, beautiful design, and lastly the OMNI chip. At the time of this writing, most vendors don’t have the Rev 160 in stock. If you buy it soon, you’ll probably be one of the first, if not the first in your circle to own it. Make sure you brag responsibly. You can get it here.
