SMOK Alien 220W TC
This kit is an absolute steal and is one of our highly recommended kits. The mod vapes all the way up to 220W which will give you plenty of versatility and room to grow as a vaper. I don’t know anyone who consistently vapes above 220W, personally. By having a mod that can vape that high, you’re insuring that you won’t be forced to buy another one for a long time.
The Alien 220W also has a temperature control mod with a range of 200°F to 600°F. In temperature control mode, it’s compatible with stainless steel, titanium, and Ni200 coils.
The mod is a great entry level mod. It’s easy to use and has a nice big OLED screen. It runs on two 18650 batteries which you will have to buy separately. You will get consistent performance out of this mod. Also, it performs well above its pay grade which is one of the things I look for in a bargain mod.
TFV8 Baby Beast
The tank is exactly what it says it is, a baby beast. It’s on the smaller side at 22mm compared to its parent tank, the Cloud Beast, but don’t let the size fool you. You’ll be chucking some serious clouds with this tank. The flavor is also pretty frickin’ good. Much better than some of the beginner tanks I started with.
The whole TFV8 tank family performs excellent and really generated a lot of buzz for SMOK. The tank comes with three sub ohm coil heads and a two-post RBA build deck. You can vape this tank all the way up to 100W with the octuple coil head installed.
The mod can still kick out another 120W of power but you’ll have to wait until you buy another super sub ohm tank to use it. That is one of the things that makes this kit ideal for a beginner, it gives you room to grow.
My goodness, they really piled on the value with this kit. Pound for pound, this is one of the best deals money can buy. If you’re ready to start vaping on some quality gear, this is a great option.

Innokin Coolfire Combo
The Innokin Coolfire IV 100W kit is not a bad combo to start with. It has a few cool features but not quite all the bells and whistles as the SMOK Alien 220W kit.
This kit also has temperature control and variable wattage but it’s not as robust. The mod can crank out 100W of power and the BVC coil can hang with the mod up to 70W. Not bad all things considered.
The main advantage this holds over some of the other starter kits is also its biggest disadvantage. It has a built in internal battery which is both good and bad. The good thing about the built in battery is that it’s a good size and can be charged rapidly. It has a 2A USB charging port which is basically what people call a “turbocharger.” That’s awesome.
The bad part is you cant remove the battery so it limits you. If you’re going to be away from a charging port for a long time you won’t be able to swap the battery out. When I’m out with the wifey all day running around town, beach bumming, etc, I like to be able to swap my batteries out.
So it really comes down to your specific style. If you like the internal rechargeable battery and what it brings to the table, this is a kit you should consider getting. If you’re more of the external battery swap kind of vaper, then this is not the kit for you.
