The Predator 228 is the newest mod in the Wismec lineup. It's loaded with all kinds of features that most mods don't have. If this mod is a big hit, I'm sure some of these features will become the industry standard. But for now, I remain skeptical of these features as some of them don't seem all that practical.
Wismec did not parter with JayBo to create this mod. The Predator was actually designed by Sinuous. The definition of sinuous is, “having many curves and turns” (1). This mod definitely has many curves.

What We Expect From This Kit
The Wismec Predator 228 is a nicely designed mod that looks like it will feel comfortable in hand. It does not have hard edges but rather smooth curves. The shape of the mod is closer to an oval than a box. It seems like it will fit nicely in the curves of your hand. I guess we'll find out very soon.
Newer Mod Features
The Predator 228 has a USB port below the two control buttons on the front of the mod. This port can be utilized to charge the mod & for firmware upgrades. One of the newer features that is becoming increasingly popular is 2A quick charging. You can charge your batteries pretty fast if you use the 2A quick charging.
With that said, I'm not a fan of charging batteries in my mod. Maybe I'm old school, but I like to adhere to the best battery safety practices possible. Right now, the best practice is to charge your batteries with an external charger. It's the safest route to go.
Another newer feature this mod sports is the reverse charging capability. Reverse charging allows you to use your mod as a battery pack for your cell phone or other mobile device. You can't use your mod while it's delivering juice to your phone, but this could come in handy for some people. External battery packs are really cheap these days, so I'm not sure if this will become a super popular feature.
My guess is that this feature will be a flash in the pan, but we'll just have to wait and see. Nonetheless, the effort and innovation is appreciated.
Wismec Chips
Ever since the release of the Reuleaux RX200s, I've come to expect very consistent power output from Wismec mods. When that mod came out, there was a noticeable difference in the consistency of the output.
You know how mods don't always seem to fire at a precise wattage? With the RX200s, that problem was eliminated. It vaped more like a DNA mod which is why it was so successful.
I'm expecting that same kind of consistency from this mod. It seems like Wismec had a breakthrough in their chip technology. It wouldn't make any since for them to revert back to the industry standard of inconsistent hits. After looking at their website, I'm pretty sure they're confident in this chipset.
If this chip is as good as or better than the Reuleaux RX200s, then this mod is going to become one of my new favorites. I'm looking forward to trying it.
Elabo Tank
The Elabo tank is an interesting piece of equipment and I can't wait to see how it vapes. Both of the coil heads have triple coils and vape right in the wattage range where I like to hangout.
The tank appears to have been designed for the Predator so they should pair exceptionally well together. When a company releases a tank and mod together they should perform beastly when paired. The Elabo is nice and wide, coming in at 25mm which is nice. It can hold 4.9mL of your favorite vape juice so you won't find yourself constantly refilling it.
One downside to a wider tank is that it will hang of the edge if you decide to use it on a skinnier mod like the Vaporesso Tarot Pro.
I'm expecting this tank to put out some beastly clouds since it comes with two triple coils and both are well into the sub ohm territory. My question is, will the flavor be as good as the clouds? If the answer is yes, then this tank will find itself in my lineup for a while to come.
Preliminary Verdict
As of right now, I like this mod. It looks very comfortable and has some cutting edge features. I'm not sure if I will use the new features, but I'll give them a try and see how I like it. The 2A charging could come in handy when I'm out and about and need a quick power up but it won't be my default charging method.
The Reverse charging also could get you out of a jam when your phone is dying. The only caveat is I'd have to carry the reverse charging adapter around in my pocket. If you carry a purse, this could be a very practical feature for you. I live in Miami so I don't wear coats which would make lugging around an extra adapter interesting. Maybe I'll keep it in the car since I definitely won't need it at home. That way I can run out to the car and get it if I need it.
It boasts all of the regular features you'd expect to see in a dual 18650 mod, so I wouldn't let the new features turn you off. You don't have to use them but they're there just in case you want to. I will definitely be giving this mod a rip because Wismec makes one of the best in-house chipsets in the industry and their mods are really affordable.
